If you are a senior, you need to read this article
The Victorian Seniors Festival takes place across Victoria throughout October 2018, and this is the 36th time this event has been held.
The festival is all about getting out and about in your local community and even beyond. The festival is also about honouring those of us who are seniors and it is organised by the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services.
These celebrations go for a month and offer more than 2,000 occasions for enjoying yourself and the chance to try something new or different in a friendly atmosphere at little or no cost. You could catch up with friends at a festival event, or perhaps meet new people when you go to an event on your own.
Many councils will be involved and have all sorts of different events happening. For more details, click here.
From Sunday 7th October 2018 to Sunday 14th October, Victorian Senior's cardholders will get free public transport, including all V/Line services. Make sure you carry your Seniors Card all the time!
This will be the perfect opportunity for seniors to come into the city and enjoy the great free entertainment and activities!
So, for all those who have a Senior's Card - at last you will be rewarded for "getting older"! This will be a fun week of events made just for you.
Some of the people behind the scenes who have worked hard to get this event going include:
Jeannette Lane - Jeanette is a very active and energetic advocate for older people living on the Mornington Peninsula.
Talgium Edwards - Talgium is a proud Taungurung man, an Elder in his community and a member of the Stolen Generation.
Anna Wang - Anna has turned a short project for her university course into a 10 year long passion. Anna transports seniors from Melbourne's Chinese community to a bit of their homeland for a few hours every week!
