Our day trip up to Daylesford proved to be an adventurous one after surprising my partner for his birthday with a quad bike tour through the Wombat State Forest.
Only 9.2km out of Daylesford heading south towards Sailors Falls, we meet Glen, our tour guide from Victorian Quad Bike Tours, at Leonards Hill Hall, Ballan - Daylesford Road. Be prepared to get dirty and dusty whilst having loads of fun.
Before we set off Glen took us through the basic instructions on the bikes. As they are automatic all you need to concentrate on is steering. So no need to worry if you don't have any experience as they are quite easy to ride. Full training is provided in a warm-up lap and course set up so you can become familiar with riding off road. They provide helmets and goggles to be safe and protected.
Don't forget to bring your camera or Go Pro and wear closed shoes and long sleeved top & pants, as you are riding through the state forest with loads of trees, logs and potholes, whilst taking in the magical scenery and nature.
This makes for a wonderful family day out or get together with a group of friends to try something different and adventurous.
Even Glen's dog (forgot her name) had joined us on the adventure and was happy to be the leader of the pack. Our ride lasted just over an hour, plus extra time for training and getting familiar with the bike. We loved all the challenges of rolling over logs, riding down dips and into muddy water and it seems like we weren't the only ones exhausted.
