Here is a rare chance to delve into the intriguing world of forensic investigation with an expert panel from the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine.
Postmortem blood and other tissue samples are used by forensic toxicologists to determine the presence of drugs or poison. Bones and bruises can reveal trauma. Bugs can help tell a victim’s time of death and teeth can identify them. These clues can help "nail down who dunnit, where they dunnit, and how they dunnit".
Brought to you by Sisters in Crime, an organisation that loves to share its collective passion for women’s crime writing, the event features Dr Melanie Archer, Associate Professor Linda IIes, Dr Samantha Rowbotham, and Dr Lyndall Smythe, alongside true crime author Dr Liz Porter.
Together they will dissect the mysteries unveiled by postmortems. You’ll learn how forensic specialists uncover crucial details about crimes using postmortem samples, and the work pathologists, entomologists, anthropologists, and odontologists do, while enhancing your understanding of forensic investigations' vital role in justice.
