Vib Best Western Sanam Pao
For travellers looking for affordable, convenient accommodation right on the doorstep of Bangkok's BTS Skytrain line,
is a perfect option. The hotel is a mere minute's walk from the train station - in fact, you face it directly when you walk towards the exit stairs from the elevated BTS platform.
This property is still fairly new. It wasn't here during my last visit to Bangkok two years ago, and it offers a fresh alternative to other hotels available along the train line on this stretch of the city. I personally chose it for its proximity to Mo Chit station, where the famous Chatuchak weekend market resides - just three quick stops away by train.
We arrived fairly early on our reserved date - around 10 am to be exact, and were very grateful and pleasantly surprised to be offered early check-in. The staff are very friendly and welcome, and I liked the modern decor of the lobby area.
We stayed in a Superior King
room, as we were travelling as a couple. You can also have the option of the Superior Twin
, which comes with twin beds instead of a king-sized.
I would describe the room size as 'cute'. Everything is fitted neatly into a 20 square metre box, with everything you would need. The space is quite cramped around the bed though, which was the one thing that wasn't great about the room.
The bed was very soft, and while I prefer a more firm pillow, my partner liked it just fine. And I actually liked the positioning of the desk behind our bed, which kept everything within arm's reach.
The TV welcomes you with your name on screen, which was a nice touch. There weren't a lot of English channels though.
The ensuite bathroom comes with all the necessities. The air circulation in here was excellent, keeping everything nice and dry. There's also ample space for hanging up towels, which is something a lot of other hotels I've visited have lacked.
Shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner is all accounted for. If you need anything else, you can call the front desk and they'll bring it up for you.
You can also find a small gym available at the hotel ground floor, and even make use of a PlayStation 4. There are a few game stations, so you can while away the time there. We didn't try it out, but we saw a few people having their fun with it during our stay.
Breakfast is available at the lobby area. We didn't opt for this, but from what we could see in the mornings, it is a simple selection of pastries, fruits, and other small breakfast items.
We stayed two nights here, and I don't mind coming back here again. It's just so convenient! There is even a 7-11 just one lot over, and I found the location a very easy place to get a taxi. Definitely a good place to consider if you'd like a spot near the train in Bangkok.
