Best brownies ever, if you're lucky

I love going out for a walk with my family and always try to tie it in with a take away coffee and cake, so imagine my glee at finding Via Battisti mere moments from one of my favourite walking trails (the Balcombe Estuary Boardwalk Circuit).

On my first visit to this wonderful cafe, I was lucky enough to get a piece of chocolate brownie. I cannot tell you how good this treat is. I'm going to say this, if you can get a piece of brownie from Via Battisti, you will eat one of the best brownies in Victoria, it is absolutely delicious. Today, sadly there were no brownies but I did get a really yummy jam doughnut that I would recommend.

For my visit today I got a large take away coffee or, as they call it at Via Battisti, a Dr. Dre, and the blend was deep and delicious. I felt the taste was almost a rich brown sugar flavour. It was a really great coffee made with love by a really talented barista.

Once inside, you can see how much love and care the owner has put into this cafe. The decor is modern but relaxed, the bar feels open and bright and there is an outdoor area that is covered over so you can sit with your dog and enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The baguettes and sandwiches in the display case look fresh and delicious and the bread used in the cafe is Baker Boys bread which is baked locally and one of the best breads around. If you're feeling like something a bit more substantial, grab yourself some brunch, I highly recommend the free range eggs and home made baked beans, they are so delicious.

I'm really keen on this lovely cafe. I like that the owner is hands on in her business; I like that they use local and really high quality produce; I like that you can bring your dog along and sit outside, or bring the kids and not worry that they'll make a huge mess; I like that the baristas are passionate enough to make good coffee; and I like that the staff are really friendly.

Give yourself an excuse to get to Mount Martha and try Via Battisti. You'll really love it.
