Delightful Theatre for Families
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is munching his way through hearts across the globe. Touring London and the UK after delighting families in New York and Australia, The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show is not to be missed.
Even first time theatre-goers will be mesmerised by the giant-sized puppets. The colour and whimsy of Eric Carle's magical characters spring onto the stage with 75 puppets, created by The Puppet Kitchen. The Puppet Kitchen are winners of four Daytime Emmy awards and alumnus from Jim Henson's Muppet Workshop.
Eric Carle is the prolific author and illustrator of many well loved children's books. Photograph by JA Rossiter.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar first sprang to life 45 years ago, but is still delighting children around the world. It has sold 30 million copies worldwide and sells the equivalent of a copy per minute since its first publication.
The sixty-minute show is based on four of Eric Carle's colourful animal tales: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Mr. Seahorse, The Very Lonely Firefly and The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse.
I saw this show in Adelaide, Australia. It was thoroughly enjoyed by both adults and Miss Six. One aspect of the performance that made a mark on me was the total engagement of even the youngest members of the audience. Read my full review of the Australian show.
