Only 90 minutes drive from Townsville is the incredible Venus Gold Battery.

Located on the outskirts of Charters Towers, the Venus Gold Battery is both the largest and the oldest of all surviving stamp batteries in Queensland.

The popular Battery History Tour is an extraordinary 75-minute walking tour which offers a unique insight into the amazing gold rush era of the late nineteenth century.

A fascinating film presentation is also screened as part of the tour experience, which shows not only the process of extracting gold from ore, but also the story of the Battery's working life - and some of its ghosts!

The Battery History Tour is suitable for families, visitors and groups, and is a must for all history buffs!

 

Bookings are essential and prices are as follows:

  • Adult: $20.00

  • Adult Concession – Seniors / Students: $18.50*

  • Children / Teens (5 – 17): $12.50

  • Children Under 5: Free

  • Family (2 Adults 2 Children / Teens): $50.00

  • Groups of 10 : For a quote, please contact the Tour Coordinator on 0401 666 441.

    *Concession applies to seniors, pensioners, and university students.

    *Customers must produce proof on tour.
