Nestled into a quite corner behind the Raine Square precinct is a unique bar concept named . What makes it so unique is it is more than just a bar, it is also an art gallery, a studio and a contemporary design shop.

There are two entrances to the bar, blink on either side and you'll miss it. The first, from Raine Square, is in a low lit corner behind the shopping precinct entrance, the only telltale signs being a few tables out the front. The second entrance from Queens Street goes through the shop, meaning it's easy to walk by thinking there's no bar at all.

Inside the bar you're met with a low lit, simplistic design which showcases the natural features of the building. Exposed brick and concrete walls and a no-frills concrete staircase surround the small wooden corner bar in the centre. There is one modern side to the building, a glass wall enabling patrons to peer into the adjoining Venn shop.

Upstairs the architecture is more of the same. Simple and open. Up here though you'll also find a small art gallery featuring contemporary local artworks for creatively minded people to ogle over.

There is also a very small outdoor section upstairs. I wouldn't really describe it as a rooftop bar, more of a patio with an opening in the roof above style facility. The outdoor area fits the theme of simplicity. It's adorned with umbrellas, garden seating and a plant wall.

Now, the drinks. This is something Venn do well, the bar stocks a good range of little known Australian craft beer brands and an excellent range of ciders, wines and spirits. They also have a small selection of 'cheapies' including the perennial favourite Emu Export for the less discerning drinkers. During the day it is also a popular spot for morning and lunch time coffee stops.

The food menu has a wide range of very good looking food whether you're wanting something small to share or bigger servings for dinner. Meals are pretty decent with a chicken confit pizza costing $13 however the share plates do seem a little over priced sitting between $8-$28.

is a great urban hideaway for those looking for fresh new bars to explore. Complete with a good drinks and food list, as well as artwork to admire, Venn fits well into the chic small bar fad that has become so popular in Perth over the last few years.
