VEND Marketplace and Cafe in Virginia is Brisbane’s biggest seven-day-a-week permanent indoor market showcasing more than one hundred family-owned stalls , all under one roof. Evoking feelings of nostalgia for me of undercover markets back in South Africa, VEND Marketplace and Cafe provides an open and airy space for shoppers to enjoy a casual browse and shop, delight in the options of either indoor or outdoor dining, have a fenced-in spot for children to play, as well as an open invitation to family doggies to come along too.



Whether looking to put a smile on the childrens’ faces or to express love for your significant other, discerning shoppers will be thrilled by the variety of one-of-a-kind gifts. VEND staff are always on hand to assist customers and take care of sales, whilst the VEND shop owners bring in new stock on a weekly basis ensuring there is always something fun and exciting to discover. Always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to collaborate and create opportunities for local creatives and entrepreneurs to grow their business, VEND hosts various events, such as pop-up markets on the lawn, to allow community members to sell their products and build their brands. With a dedicated workshop space upstairs, VEND Marketplace encourages creatives to share their knowledge and run innovative workshops and/or events. A variety of fluid art and creative resin workshops are run on a weekly basis.



Sourced from local suppliers, VEND Cafe aims to bring its visitors the highest quality food, assuring diners a variety of freshly cooked breakfasts and lunches. The to-die-for cake cabinet is always stocked with a variety of amazing tarts, cakes and slices, along with ready made focaccias and quiches. Made from the finest beans and sourced from sustainable like-minded farmers from around the world, VEND Cafe brings coffee lovers the very best in coffee tastes. VEND Cafe is also a licensed venue, which means a wine or beer after a day of shopping with the kids, is a very appealing shopping add-on.



What I particularly loved about visiting VEND Marketplace in Virginia, was the added extra ‘spoil’ - Peppertown Toddlers Action Station - ensuring Mum and/or Dad could sit and relax (well within reason, of course) and watch on whilst the little ‘possums’ entertained themselves or lay claim to the available play objects.



VEND is an amalgamation of all things fun - a north side Brisbane market where visitors can enjoy a variety of things, including shopping, food, events and workshops; an indoor market that provides a home to dozens of local shops, benefitting shoppers as well as giving exposure to local vendors.
