Disco isn't dead - it just took a nap
A show that incorporates the best of the 70's - disco, divas, dance, along with a little burlesque, bondage, boogie and... hula hoops?!?

As a child of the 70's, I have a love of sequins and mirror balls, and disco will always make me want to get up and dance. I wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer, with the flicked hair and dewy lips. Velvet let me relive that dream through the costumes, dance, acrobatics, and - of course - the wonderful music featuring the amazing Marcia Hines.

Velvet has been slightly revamped from the 2015 version, but equally as enjoyable. I loved the show, but took great joy in watching audience members reactions to what unfolded on stage. The acrobatics, the singing, the dancing and those hula hoops!

To quote the star of the show, Marcia Hines "It's a joyous show....I have to think really hard to think of a sad disco song". The only way it could be better is to make sure you know the words to sing along (many audience members could already manage that!). Meantime, enjoy the boogie and the amazing acts...and you'll still be dancing as you leave.

Currently on at Adelaide Fringe Festival, the tour moves on to Melbourne and then Brisbane.

Disco should never die - long may Velvet reign.
