Event:
A festival for the whole family, including your pets
This is an event well worth attending, even if you are not a vegetarian! The festival is hosted annually at The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion.

It is surprising what good food can be made with the omission of meat and poultry.

It will be held on Saturday 6th October, 2018, from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm. The venue is The Great Stupa, 25 Sandhurst Town Road, Myers Flat. It is a free event and donations are welcome.

Not only is it a fun family day event, but it is all about loving food, loving animals, and loving life in general! What could be more appealing than this?

The festival aims to encourage people to look after themselves and their health and there will be varying stalls and activities for all. It is also all about caring for animals through a vegetarian or vegan diet.

Vegan may sound scary or uninteresting to some, however on a recent vegan lunch I attended, I was so surprised to see the variety and flavours of vegan food. They were every bit as good as vegetarian food, which is also something that needs to be tasted to be appreciated! Whether you are a vegetarian, vegan or simply interested to find out more about the lifestyle, this all-inclusive and diverse event has so much to offer.

At this event, you will be able to try and experience vegetarian and vegan food stalls and watch cooking demonstrations where you will be amazed at the variety of foods you can make. There will also be animal blessings, yoga sessions, a children's area, guest speakers and lots more.

And as well as all that, the best part for many of us is that pets are welcome to join in the fun!

This event is all about:

About The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion
The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is a not-for-profit organisation. It is a major tourist attraction based in Bendigo and is a Buddhist temple. It has the largest Buddhist monument in the whole of Australia and is the home for the largest gem-quality Jade Buddha in the world.

You may well ask "what is a Stupa"? It is also known as a pagoda and is the most sacred building in Buddhism. A stupa symbolises the "enlightened mind and the path to enlightenment". A stupa also houses holy relics of the Buddha and other highly beings.
