Mums will be sure to be spoilt on Mother's Day weekend, especially if they're vegan. Likewise, Mother's Day weekend is a perfect opportunity for mums and families to try a vegan experience if they're curious about bringing more plants into their lives.
The Vegan Dairy Open Day, Saturday 8 May 10am to 1pm Take a short day trip to Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula for The Vegan Dairy Open Day. Held on the second Saturday of every month, The Vegan Dairy opens its doors to the public where you can purchase their vegan artisan cheeses, spreads and butters plus Open Day specials. The Open Day also hosts local vegan makers in a mini-market format so you can sample the latest vegan products the region has to offer. Vendors change monthly and past vendors have included Top Hat Salsa Co., Curiously Cauli, Horribly Healthy and Soulful Vegan Food. Edgar's Mission Vegan For A Day Tour, Saturday 8 May 8.30am to 6.30pm
Edgar's Mission is a not for profit sanctuary for rescued farmed animals that seeks to create a humane and just world for humans and non-humans, located on over 153 acres of peaceful land just outside of Lancefield in the Macedon ranges. Ginger runs Vegan For A Day tours and is holding her Edgar's Mission Vegan For A Day Tour on the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend. The tour will start with breakfast at One for the Crow in Maidstone. Afterwards, the tour bus will head to Edgar's Mission for a tour of the grounds and the animals who call it home. A late lunch follows at Mr. Macedon. Tickets are $170 per person and includes all food and transport, as well as a mystery vegan box for each guest. Bookings are essential.
Mother's Day Vegan Italian Experience, Sunday 9 May 4pm to 6.30pm Book you and your mum in for a vegan hands-on cooking tour of Rome, as you'll learn how to make vegan Roman Fettuccine Alfredo and vegan Tiramisu. These two Italian classics will be created using timeless Italian techniques and the freshest plant-based ingredients. This event is hosted by Nadia Fragnito of The Vegan Italian Kitchen and Drool at The Fitz Café & Rooftop in Fitzroy. Tickets are $69.00 per person and booking are essential. Book your tickets here.
Mother's Day at Earthbound, Sunday 9 May from 11am Earthbound Bolton is one of Eltham's prime cafés for good food, good coffee and good conversation. Andrew and his team will be hosting a special Mother's Day lunch menu with six tasty options, all but one are vegan! Choose from these delicious Mother's Day vegan menu items – Forest Soup with herb toast, Vietnamese Vermicelli Salad, Fable & Fennel Ragu, Pan-fried Pesto Gnocchi or Plant-Based Burger and Chips. These menu items, except for the Gnocchi, can also be made gluten-free on request. Each item is as priced on the day.
