It was a pleasant surprise finding out just how easy it is to be vegetarian in Chiang Mai. There are so many options throughout the city, with various cuisines available. though, takes it one step further by being completely vegan, with a comprehensive selection of breakfast choices, and Thai food.

We were staying at Sleep Mai? Lifestyle Hotel , which was actually just a short eight-minute walk away from here. The restaurant is open from 9 am till 10 pm every day; we managed to find a sweet spot around 6.30 pm before the dinner crowd arrived.

The menu was filled with so many options to choose from. We finally decided to get three dishes to share between the two of us. The food took quite some time to arrive, and by the time it did, my stomach was starting to growl - but the food was worth the wait.

For appetisers, we wanted to try the spicy cauliflower wings, which is apparently a crowd favourite. The dish came piled with chunky florets of crumbed cauliflower - crispy and so very savoury. The sweet chilli dipping sauce on the side just completed the whole experience. This is definitely a must-try.

Our second dish, the stir-fried eggplant, arrived looking very green... I'm used to eggplants being purple. The taste was great though! There's a lot of flavour packed into the sauce, and is what a pad grapow would be like as a vegetarian dish. This went so well with the cauliflower wings, and our next dish...

The green curry fried rice was the main event. The servings here are so generous, there was definitely enough for both of us. The green curry flavour was deliciously smooth, with a hint of heat. You can tell the staff just how spicy you would like your curries to be. The rice was delightfully nutty, and reminded me of a risotto-like texture.

I feel like we chose the right combination of dishes for this visit. Our timing was just right too, because by the time we were done with dinner, there were people waiting outside for a table. Even if you aren't a vegetarian, these are some of the best meat-free dishes I've ever had.
