V.D. at The Bearded Lady

We've all done crazy things for love, right? Gone on a blind date? Stalked your crush's Facebook? Moved halfway across the world to be left homeless and HPV positive? Well you are not alone. Join Sophie, who will tell you her story of V.D.

%%"Ever noticed that Valentine's Day shares the same initials as Venereal Disease? Think about it, there is a close relationship between letting someone near your vagina without a medical certificate and putting out to thank him for those god awful flowers from Woolies."

The star of the show, Kaitlyn Rogers has recently returned after having spent the past two years living in the UK and working on an Australian production in London's West End. Her artistic (and flexible) talents have since seen her return to Brisbane to share some V.D with us all. Kaitlyn says, "I love playing Sophie. She's neurotic and lovable, she's basically the love child of Bridget Jones and Jack Nicholson in The Shining."

V.D. began at the Brisbane Short and Sweet Festival in 2011. It won Best Comedy and the People's Choice Award by the highest margin in the festival's history! It's a cool show, will have you giggling throughout and could be relatable to each and every one of you in one way or another. Kaitlyn does a great performance playing Sophie. Believable, authentic and as she says herself, rather neurotic. A lovable character you won't forget.

Hosted at the Bearded Lady, this West End bar on Boundary Street is all kinds of unique. In the designated special space out the back you can watch Sophie's story unravel from the comfort of a lounge chair (similar to one that Gran used to own). With lamp lighting, a wide selection of drinks and the option to BYO food you're definitely ready for a night on the town. And ready to share some giggles (and if you're lucky some V.D with strangers across the room). You will be able to catch the remaining three shows of V.D Sunday 10th May (hey, why not take Mum?), Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May. Get in quick to secure your tickets here . Tickets are $15 and the show itself runs for 50 minutes. Click here for more information.

V.D is playing as part of The Anywhere Festival. This festival was created with the vision to propel a world-wide trend for exciting, engaging, passionate theatre anywhere but traditional theatre spaces. You will be able to catch a wide range of shows between the 7th and 24th May with a diverse range of productions available at extremely affordable prices in quirky locations throughout Brisbane. There are productions in theatre and live art, cabaret and music, circus, dance and physical theatre, comedy, kids as well as a selection of free events.
