VBK for vegetarian and vegan options

Julie and Tom have owned VBK Foods for 19 years. They sure have hit the right note in a growing market that is looking for healthier alternatives.

They have always been in business and were looking for a change. They went about constructing a business that fulfilled a need. Not forgetting their forward thinking was ~ may I use the word 'constructed' again, 19 years ago.

Julie and Tom putting a lot of TLC into VBK

They were in the 'Construction' business before moving into the arena of food. Back in the old days Tom tells me, going into the vegetarian and vegan business was not supported, but he saw it as food for the future. They developed their own recipes and made sure everything was natural, with nothing artificial in it. "We put a lot of TLC into it" ~ a direct quote from Tom.

At the Caulfield In Season Markets

Their 'vegieburgers' are prepared with fresh vegetables and blended with a quality gluten and wheat free flour and cooked in cholesterol free Rice Bran oil. It has no added salt and is onion, garlic, egg and dairy free with nothing artificial like colours, flavours, preservatives or MSG.

As it is pre-cooked, you can simply pan fry it, grill, bbq or bake it. You can even cook it in a sandwich press in minutes. Sounds like a good quick emergency meal to keep in stock to me, as it it will keep in the freezer for up to 12 months.

At $2 per quality vegan/vegetarian burger ($12 for six in a pack) sandwiched into a burger roll with a bit of salad; sounds like it ticks the boxes for being economical too.

Check out their website and Facebook page. You can find them at the In Season Markets, Caulfield being one of them. Check their Facebook and Webpage and the In Season Markets Calendar to find out where they are going to be next. A great way to support your local businesses and farmers.

They also welcome wholesale and trade enquiries.
