Get your groove on at the Valley Fiesta
No one does a street party quite like the Valley. And they're set to hold the mother of all street parties, the Valley Fiesta, when it returns for the fifth year in a row from the 22nd to the 24th of November. Renowned for its eclectic line ups, this year's Fiesta is sure to have something to tickle everyone's musical funny bone. With 3 public stages and live performances from DJs, live bands, electronic, indie-rock, hip-hop and disco acts, almost every musical taste is catered for.
The free all ages event will have 3 public stages with this year's headlining act Architecture in Helskini taking centre stage. They'll share the spotlight with artists like Andy Bull, Gold Fields, The Swiss and Alison Wonderland (among many many others).
If you're one of those people who loves to say 'I liked them before they were famous', the Local Love Competition is for you. During October, 16 finalists - 8 DJs and 8 bands - will be announced on the Valley Fiesta Facebook page and put up for a public vote. They'll battle it out for a coveted paid headlining spot on the Friday night program - winners announced on the 17th of October. With Brisbane's reputation as one of Australia's best incubators for home-grown talent, it's the perfect opportunity for music lovers to get in on the emerging music scene and say 'I knew them back when .'.
The weekend will also feature the QMusic Awards showcase featuring Cub Sport and special guests, all new 'Living Lane' and 'Sunday as One' featuring Paulini and Kitty Glitter. Official partners to the Fiesta are also getting in on the action with special events and after parties being held at venues around the Valley. Ticket info is available on the Valley Fiesta website.
And if none of that grabs your attention, the Red Bull Music Academy Roller Disco returns on Sat 23rd of November for the second year in a row. Not only do you get the chance to rock your hottest 70s vibe short shorts anyone? - you also get free fairy floss and popcorn and the chance to skate your way through the coolest after party the festival has to offer. For the money conscious among you, doors open at 8pm and entry is free before 10pm.
