For all you Swifties aka Taylor Swift fans, QVM is going to 'put it on' for you to 'Shake It Off' at the Summer Night Market at Queen Victoria Market , corner of Queen and Therry Streets, Melbourne. This Valentine's Day on Wednesday 14 February 2024, for one-night-only, come along to this free event and celebrate with Taylor Swift inspired drinks, entertainment and free friendship bracelet workshops. The Summer Night Market will be transformed into a ‘lavender haze,’ offering several Taylor-inspired activities and entertainment alongside the Night Market’s 45 street food stalls; 6 festival bars; and 50 market stalls, so be there for a magical dream night! Remember the moment by making some friendship bracelets to keep or swap at The Eras Tour. The Little Hangry Women team will hold free workshops between 5:30pm and 9:00pm. No bookings or experience necessary.

Aptly named the Swifttail, your special Taylor Swift-themed cocktail at the Summer Night Market Bars is a blend of strawberry, vodka and lemonade, garnished with fairy floss. A mocktail version will also be available. Enjoy your drink as an array of roving entertainers, including roller skaters adorned in glittery costumes roam the Night Market, paying homage to Taylor’s love for sparkles, glitter and jewels. To entertain you, a cover band will take to the main stage and play non-stop Taylor hits; so sing along and dance your hearts out to Taylor hits from her iconic early releases to her latest chart-toppers. Resident silent disco dancers Guru Dudu return for one night only with a curated ‘Eras’ playlist. ‘Shake it off’ to Taylor’s infectious beats and bridges all night long. For something a little quieter, resident silent disco dancers Guru Dudu return for one night only with a curated ‘Eras’ playlist. Do note, the Valentine's Day special, 'Shake it Off' may be for one night only, but the Summer Night Market continues every Wednesday until 13 March 2024 from 5-10pm. The Market sheds will come alive with global street food trucks and stalls, festival bars, unique shopping featuring local artisans, as well as a rotating weekly line-up of live music and roving entertainment. There's $15 event parking in both open air and undercover car parks from 4:30pm–11:00pm

Prior to Valentine's Day

You don't need to wait till Valentine's Day to have fun at the QVM. They have a few major events coming up with the Lunar New Year celebrations on Sat 10 February from approximately 10am. The Lion Dance will commence from the Mary Martin Bookshop in String Bean Alley. In the week leading up to the event, catch the mesmerising glow of 100 red lanterns illuminating the Market sheds; making it a wonderful backdrop as the lion dance meanders its way through the Market. Speaking of books, did you know that every weekend from 9am to 4pm, the C& D sheds turn into a haven for book lovers at the Melbourne Book Market? Nestled within the historic sheds, come along and explore a curated collection of over 5000 new and pre-loved titles from a range of genres that includes literature, history, gardening, travel, art, kid's books and more.

The next day after the Lunar New Year festivities, the Ube Festival descends on the Market on Sunday 11 February 2024 from 10am to 8pm in C-D Sheds. It's going to be a colourful weekend of all things Ube, complete with Filipino delicacies, a vibrant cultural event with music and dance performances, including solo singers, folk dances, Ati Atihan performances, African drumming, a classical harpist and community choir. The spectacular multicultural parade will feature Filipino, European, Asian, Pacific Islands, African, and Australian groups, celebrating the theme “We Were All Migrants Once”.

March 2024

The Turkish Pazar Festival marches on over the weekend of Sat 2 & Sun 3 March, 9am - 4pm, C-D Shed (towards Peel Street), and brings with it all the delights of a traditional Turkish street bazaar with a free, family-friendly celebration of food, music, dance and culture. Taste the delicious array of traditional street food, including gözleme and döner kebab, and finish with a Turkish mocktail or coffee. Delicious vegan and vegetarian snacks and sweets will also be available. Cultural tents will display arts and handcrafts including demonstrations of ebru, the delicate art of paper marbling, calligraphy and more. A day-long stage program will provide entertainment with the colourful Australian Ottoman Mehter Band performing on Sunday.
