Which option best suits your Valentine?
Looking for an alternative to dinner or a bunch of red roses? Sometimes it's difficult to make our 'I love you' gestures individual, personal, and intimate, so I have taken some time to brainstorm local Valentine's Day ideas to capture this. Luckily for us, V-Day falls on a Saturday this year which opens up our options!
First of all, think about what describes your partner's personality best. Are they the die-hard romantic? Are they thrill-seekers who would appreciate an adventure? Would they prefer a gift or time to be pampered, or will their ultimate day be to simply spend time with you?
Let's face it- as lovely as roses and chocolates are, they're not very personal. Neither is wine (on its own), but the Tyler's have the perfect solution to evoke happy memories: personalised wine bottles! Tyler's Vineyard is a family winery located in the Swan Valley, and not only do they produce exceptional wines but they also allow you to create your own label. The Tyler's offer to capture your own individual moment within their Grenache grape vines, or alternatively you can bring your own photo on your phone or USB. It's a simple but intimate and personal gesture that I really love!
Tyler's Vineyard is situated at 301 Padbury Avenue (Corner of Moore Road), Millendon, WA. Contact them on 0438 296 000 for opening times.
FunCats Catamaran Hire Catamaran sailing is the perfect mix of adventure and romance. Take a few hours to sail down the South Perth foreshore and see the city from a new perspective. I recommend going in the late afternoon to take advantage of the sunset over the picturesque Swan River. If Catamaran sailing isn't what you had in mind, FunCats also offer Paddle Board and Kayak hire.
FunCats is a cash only business. Please contact 0408 926 003 for more information, or head to www.funcats.com.au
HeliWest Helicopter Ride Have you ever seen Western Australia from the eyes of a helicopter? HeliWest offer scenic tours every Saturday and Sunday leaving from Jandakot Airport. There are a variety of different tours that exhibit Fremantle, Perth City, Rottnest, and the beautiful coastlines and skylines in between. HeliWest also offer you the opportunity to fly yourself from their fly school! Check out their different tours here.
The multi-doer and easy-goer!
A Rottnest Day Out Despite being merely a 25 minute ferry ride from Fremantle, Rottnest Island is too often forgotten about. A trip to the island is the perfect escape offering such a large variety of things to do. Swim together in the sparkling waters, and don't forget to bring some snorkel sets! Rottnest has a large variety of sea life in reefs close to shore, including sting-rays, octopus, starfish, corals, and over 400 varieties of fish! Parker Point even provides an underwater trail of information about the sea life! There are no cars on the island so remember to bring your bikes to explore Rottnest together. Ferry tickets to Rottnest can get expensive, however Rottnest Express are offering a cheap 'Telethon Tuesday' deal until October this year.
For something else in Rottnest, attend the Oliver Hill Gun and Tunnels tour. The tour guides are fantastic and I especially enjoyed the historical side. The Oliver Hill gun was placed on Rottnest to protect Fremantle during the war, and can fire a whopping 29km! The train ride from the settlement is a cosy alternative to riding bikes, and gives a fantastic view of the island.

Most of us live busy lives that promptly limit our time to relax. Why not use Valentine's Day as a time to unwind and de-stress the mind, body, and soul. Pampering packages are the perfect intimate affair!
Courtesy of Keturah
Keturah are offering a variety of Valentines Day couple massages, retreats, and full day-spa packages. This means that you can unwind while still spending quality time together- brilliant!
Keturah have four locations within the Perth metropolitan area. Find the one closest to you on their website.
For a cheaper and more personal alternative, create your own pampering session. Buy your partner a stimulating book, invest in some essential oils and scented candles (Dusk have a great range), and treat them to a soothing massage. There are a variety of calming choices of music, but here is one of my favourites.
If I haven't grabbed your attention with any of my suggestions, try Scoopon. Scoopon provides a large variety of deals for only a fraction of their retail price. Some examples include Adventure World passes, pamper packages, 3-course dinner vouchers, hotel and travel deals, car detailing packages, any many more. Check our their website or app to find something special.
Fringe World also have a heap of great shows on, but make sure you book early to avoid disappointment!
