Like it or loathe it, it's Valentine's Day and it's time to celebrate love in all its gooey glory. With floral bouquets, scented candles, chocolate goodies, and teddy bears everywhere, the best thing to do is embrace Valentine's Day and your Valentine. The good news is there are actually some pretty cool things happening in Adelaide on Friday, February 14, 2014.

Grab your lover or a lovely group of friends and hit the town because it's the start of the Adelaide Fringe and it all begins with the huge free Fringe Parade along King William Street. The parade starts at 8.30 pm with entertainment from 7 pm onward and it finishes with a fireworks display at 9.30 pm. Find more information at the Adelaide Fringe website and read about the Opening Night Parade here .

After the parade, head to the Garden of Unearthly Delights to catch a show or just hang out and enjoy the atmosphere. The Bank SA free concert series starts on Valentine's Day with a performance at 5.30 pm from the "retro fabulous vintage" DJ Monski Mouse. It's free entry into the Garden at Rundle Park on East Terrace, which is open from 5 pm until 3 am on Friday. Check out the program at the Garden of Unearthly Delights website .

The Cellar Door Wine Festival is on this weekend and to celebrate opening night and Valentine's Day, there are two decadent master classes. The first starts at 6 pm and is hosted by Valerie Henbest, cheese expert from The Smelly Cheese Shop. The second class starts at 7.30 pm and is hosted by Marion Grasby, former MasterChef contestant and creator of Marion's Kitchen. The master classes cost $30 each and are held at The Big Slapple, also known as the Adelaide Convention Centre. Book your tickets at the Cellar Door Wine Festival website .

It's also the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra Season Opening Gala. The ASO kicks off its season and honours Valentine's Day with From Russia with Love, a night of romantic Russian music including a performance of Tchaikovksy's Romeo and Juliet. It starts at 8 pm at the Festival Theatre. Ticket prices vary so visit the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra website for all the details.

While many events are just getting started, the Moonlight Cinema is unfortunately winding down for another season. For Valentine's Day, the outdoor cinema in the Botanic Gardens is screening Breakfast at Tiffany's, the 1960s classic and eternally stylish romantic comedy starring Audrey Hepburn, George Peppard, and Cat. The screening starts when the sun sets, but it's a good idea to arrive early to cuddle up and claim your spot on the grass. Tickets cost $18 for adults and can be purchased from the Moonlight Cinema website .

Wallis Cinemas also has an outdoor cinema on the lawns of Auchendarroch House at Mount Barker. There's a special Valentine's Day screening of Endless Love, a remake of the 1980s Brooke Shields' film of the same title. Gates open at 8 pm and the screening begins at 9 pm. Tickets cost $18.50 for adults and can be purchased from the Wallis Cinemas website .
