  • WHAT'S THE DEAL?

  • Free Tacos, at Bendigo Hotel...

    %%**(WHO) THE HECK'S BENDIGO HOTEL?
    **%%
Bendigo Hotel ain't Paris. Run-of-the-mill. Slightly dingy, perfect place for a Metallica t-shirt. However, this Valentine's Day they're sprucing up. Celebrity chef Joe Hansen (you may know him from television, but probably not), hitting the stove-tops. Collaborating with the fab kitchen crew, to prepare a feast that'll whip up a frenzy.

Nevertheless, be warned. If this's a first date. Or you're in the bad books. Step away. But...if you're fretting that obligatory heart-to-heart, surrounding buzz may be a life-saver. OK, ramblings aside, if you're one for a down-to-earth vibe, where staff members are actual humans, Bendigo Hotel fits the bill. So check it out - before they come at me with pitchforks.

  • WHAT'S THE DEAL?

  • Free Standup, at Club Voltaire...

    THE HECK'S CLUB VOLTAIRE?

Weird name, weird place, weird people. Tiny bit seedy, Voltaire's a bazaar of bizarre. Each night, showcasing kooky artforms that...everyone...seems to love. Cabaret, burlesque, physical theatre, dance. Never-ending lineup of performers vying for attention.

Though fairly small, da club boasts dark corners. Conversely, if you and your partner are dull, the spectacle offers an effective diversion. Perhaps, remedy even. But with a great atmosphere, capturing the essence of quaint Nth Melbourne, this hip hub will enliven you - so everyone wins.

    OK, WHAT EXACTLY THEY OFFERING?

Along with: Peter Jones, Blake Freeman, Sonia Di Iorio, Tessa Ryan, Brett Blake, Murphy McLachlan, Nat Harris, Angus Brown, Anthony Jeannot, David McDonald, The Astruds, Zach Storer
    *HMPH. WHAT'S THIS DEAL?

    Free music, at Union Hotel...

    THE HECK'S UNION HOTEL?

Never heard of Union Hotel?! Melbourne icon, for goodness sake. Okay, enough shenanigans. Union Hotel = tradition. How it was done. Should be done. Heritage listed, venue itself boasts sturdy bartops and solid walls. Yes, I know, the joint's ancient. Little creepy. But not shabby. Just sorta...I dunno, manky?

Look, in all honesty, this time-honoured Melbourne favourite is a pleasant throwback. So charming, relaxing, easy to fall in love with. Which is ideal, if you don't actually have a Valentine - hmmm. So, if you got no hope in the romance department, come on down! We'll be in the beer garden, drowning our sorrows.

    OK, WHAT EXACTLY THEY OFFERING?

Mr Alford Country. Serenading, with his beaut' repertoire of mellow country music - for free. Between 5pm - 7pm.
