Need some help with what to do on Valentine's Day? Here are some ideas for a romantic Valentine's Day, or any other special date occasion:

1. A candlelit dinner at a fancy restaurant
Now there are HEAPS of restaurants around Perth where you can enjoy a romantic evening, but these are a few places that have a special Valentine's Day offer(s);
- Crown Perth - each of their sit down dining and buffet restaurants have something special to offer. Details https://www.crownperth.com.au/valentines-day/whats-on
- Herberts Bar & Balcony in Fremantle has a Norah Jones tribute band with a three-course meal deal for $75 per person. Details https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/norah-jones-the-songbird-tickets-467389363167
- C Restaurant has a three-course dinner offer also, with options for the different courses for $175 per person. Details https://www.crestaurant.com.au/events/valentines-day/
- Storehouse Subiaco (which is inside the Vibe Hotel Subiaco) has a chef's table set menu with prosecco on arrival for $85 per person. Bookings https://www.opentable.com/booking/experiences-availability?rid=144008&restref=144008&experienceId=128041

2. A picnic in a scenic location
This would have to be one of the cheaper options for Valentine's Day, so the current cost of living might be a good option if you're on a budget and can't afford one of the options above.

Both Coles and Woolworths sell pre-packaged mixed 'platter' options and cheese boards if you're not too sure what to get, but sometimes it can be more fun to experiment a little with different meat, cheeses and accomplishments and make your own picnic meal. Then which location..... The easiest is to go with what's close or what you know. Good chance people wil flock to places like Kings Park, Cottesloe or Scarborough Beaches so if you want to be a little romantic - or pop the question - maybe stay away from those.

If that seems a little too difficult - and it's within your budget - you could also try a Mystery Picnic. The idea behind these is you pick the area you want to explore - like Fremantle, Kalamunda, Mandurah or the Swan Valley - and you follow clues to collect the ingredients for your picnic whilst exploring the area. You get to have some tastings along the way and alcohol if you want. Booking your picnic can be done here .

Don't forget to factor in the weather - especially if it's going to be hot. Don't want yourself or your date to burn or be sweating buckets when you're trying to be all romantic.

3. A couples massage or spa day
What could be more romantic than spending some time together getting pampered with a massage or package at a spa! Some day spas that offer couples packages are;
- Le Beau Clinic & Spa (located in Kardinya) offers five different packages for couples to enjoy together. Everything from a simple massage up to their Ultimate Romantic Escape. More details can be found at https://www.day-spa-perth.com.au/couples-spa/
- Massage on the Run is a mobile massage company - so they come to your door. Enjoy the comfort of a couples massage - with either one or two therapists - in your own home at a time that suits you! Bookings can be made online at https://massageontherun.com.au/couple-massage-perth/
- Urban Day Spa (in Rockingham) has three different couples packages available, Friends Forever, Melting Moments and Romancing with Stones

4. A wine-tasting or brewery tour
Now since Valentine's Day is on a Tuesday, this might be better suited to the weekend but there are a few alcoholic beverage makers close to Perth you could visit, including;
- Little Things Gin is located niceand centrally - in Subiaco! Open from Thursday to Sunday they also have a kitchen on site so you can grab a bite while you taste the gin they make in the same building. Bookings can be made online https://www.littlethingsgin.com.au/pages/bookings
- King Road Brewery. Located in Oldbury south of Perth, King Road Brewery is family owned and operated. They handcraft their own beers and ciders in-house and have an extensive food menu as well. Bookings can be made online
- Sin Gin Distillery is a gin producer located in Herne Hill in Perth's north, inside the Swan Settlers Market. Fans of gin can book a gin-tasting tour including pre-purchase of some of their gin. Bookings can be made online

5. A cooking class together
While this may not be high on many people's list of choices, this is a great way to learn about each other's tastes whilst learning a new skill. These are a couple of places that offer cooking classes in Perth;
- Salt & Company Cooking School. Located nice and central in West Perth, Salt & Company offer a large selection of different cooking classes including Get Your French On, Mexican Street Food, Japanese Izakaya, The Spanish Tapas Bar and Vietnamese Street Food to name just a few. The classes all run at different times with classes listed from now until May - but if this is something you're thinking about you might want to get in quick because some classes are already full with others having only limited spots. More information is on their website https://saltandcompany.com.au/cooking-classes/
- The Cooking Professor is situated in Mt Hawthorn and offers a large selection of different cooking classes including Chinese Dumpling Workshop, Spanish Tapas, Sushi Making Workshop - both adults only and parents & kids versions and Gnocchi and Risotto to name a few. They also host several dinner events. Bookings and information is available on their website https://www.thecookingprofessor.com.au/cooking-classes/

6. A cozy night in with a movie and takeaway from your favourite restaurant
The final idea on this list is the simplest - a night in at home with a movie or two and some takeaway, which you can probably get delivered if you're with Uber Eats or something similar.

The movie doesn't even need to be a romantic one if that's not to both of your tastes, whatever works best for you both.

Now while I have specified this list for Valentine's Day, you can use these ideas for any kind of date where you might want to try something a little different or be that little more romantic. Not everyone likes flowers, chocolates and a stuffed animal for Valentine's.
