This Valentines' Day why not write a love letter to your valentine and have it on display at the International Rose Garden of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens? (The Rose Garden is situated on the corner of Hackney Road and Plane Tree Drive, Parking available off of Hackney road. You can also walk through the gardens from entrances situated on North Terrace and Frome Road.)
Love Notes is a free event sponsored by Splash Adelaide. It runs from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and writing materials will be provided. You can also dedicate a rose to your valentine by attaching a label to the flower of your choice. The Gardens will be alive with music, pop-up pavilions, a garden bar and gift sales. Both the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens will remain open until 8:00 pm on Tuesday February 14 to allow couples to enjoy a romantic evening stroll or picnic. Entry is absolutely free and this event would suit even cash-poor student valentines.
However, if you do have a little money to spend, picnic baskets can be ordered from the Botanic Gardens restaurant or you can dine-in until for a special Valentine's Dinner. (Picnic baskets contain a range of chocolates, cheeses and nibbles, and are available for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The deluxe basket costs around $88. Beverages range from sparkling mineral water at $9.50 to Howard Vineyard Sparkling Brut at $55. Beverage Baskets contain glassware and ice bucket. Order forms can be downloaded here.
There will also be a special Moonlight Cinema Valentine's Day screening of La La Land, starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.
