Event:
Celebrate Springtime in the beautiful Hunter Valley
One of the most historic regions in New South Wales, the Hunter Valley is also one of the most picturesque. With rolling green hills, a rich agricultural heritage and numerous quaint old-world hamlets, it's the kind of idyllic rural shang-ri-la that wannabe tree-changers wistfully and incessantly daydream about. Out of all the gorgeous places in the Valley, one of the prettiest would certainly have to be Vacy, a small village located approximately 25 kilometres from Maitland, on the banks of the gently-flowing Paterson River.

If you've been contemplating a visit to this lovely part of the world for some time, but just haven't managed to get around to it, an event that may be of interest to you is the upcoming Vacy Village Country Carnival, a classic country fair, with something for the whole family. Although the event has now been running for several years, the organisers guarantee that this year's carnival is going to be better than ever before, while still retaining the friendly country charm that has always captured the hearts of visitors.

This year's Vacy Country Carnival will be held from 9am until 3pm on Sunday, the 14th September, at various venues throughout the town. Things to do include pony rides, camel rides, bucking bull, bouncy castle, and even joy rides with Newcastle Helicopters, a real treat considering the spectacular scenery of the area. Other animal encounters include donkeys to pat and even real crocodiles (if you dare), while Ruby the Clown will be roaming the carnival grounds, enhancing the good vibe. Also guaranteed to put a smile on your face will be the Jack Russell and Dachshund races. If you have an energetic pooch of either of these breeds, be sure to bring them along as well, so they can join in the fun.

There's nothing like a country market, and this is especially true in the Vacy area as so many fresh food growers and artisans live close by. On the big day there will be all sorts of interesting stalls to peruse, including handicrafts, clothing, jewellery, jams, pickles, sculptures, olive oil, camp ovens , toys, baby clothes and much, much more. Entertainment will be provided and will begin with a performance by the Vacy School Choir. The Australian Army Pipes, Jumpin Juke Box and The John Ryall Band will also be performing throughout the day.
