Pop-in to the pop-up
Housed in a converted warehouse on Montague Road in West End, Vacant Assembly is a hub for artists and artisans. Part studio, part exhibition space and part shop, it provides a venue for making, displaying and selling art and handmade wares.

The studio area at the back of the warehouse is home to a group of ceramicists, jewellers, visual artists, a photographer and a framer. Throughout November, these eight talented artisans are selling the fruits of their labour in the monthly pop-up in the "project space" at the front of the venue.

Beautifully crafted potential gifts for friends and family are displayed against the backdrop of the striking charcoal coloured walls.

There are earrings, paintings, photos, collage artworks and functional and decorative ceramics.

Other makers are planning to take over the project space in the coming months. There will also be regular new exhibitions in the gallery.

Check out Vacant Assembly's Instagram to keep up with details and opening events and exhibitions.

A great space for creatives and I'm sure it makes for a terrific hub for conversation

It's nice to see creativity being facilitated and encouraged. I'm sure the local artisans will be very happy with this.

Great to know where these shops are Lizzie. That’s the fun with writing you can tell heaps of others about the places we find.
