Panto season is upon us; oh no it isn't, oh yes it is! If you've got little ones who love fairy tales and a bit of a show, then look no further than the production of Alice in Wonderland care of the UWA Pantomime Society.

What:
If you've not been to the panto before, then you are in for a fun filled entertaining theatrical treat. Pantomime is a special type of musical comedy theatre most suited to families and children due to its slapstick nature themed around well known fairytales. Panto is most famous in the UK where every Christmas sees theatres across the country putting their best foot forward to produce a fairytale based production that will have audiences dancing, laughing and singing in their seats.

For the panto newbie, audience participation is a must. Come prepared to join in heartily with the crowds to announce the arrival of the villains and baddies on stage, with the taunt of 'it's behind you'. Bring your loudest voice to answer characters who direct statements at the audience who will generally seek an opposite answer back; hence oh no it isn't should be met with, oh yes it is. You get the general idea. If in doubt, just join in with the general frivolity of it all and sit back and enjoy.

UWA Pantomime Society - Alice in Wonderland

For this particular production, the UWA Pantomime Society base the story on Alice having the typical bad luck of being born just one day before Christmas. Every birthday she has to share the limelight with her younger cousin Jack and his stupid Christmas antics. But this year Alice is going to get the attention she deserves from the people who love her best. She's going back to Wonderland. So join the UWA Pantomime society as they take you on a journey back through the looking class with its heroine Alice meeting favourite characters the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, the Tweedles and many more on the way. The villain of the piece is the Queen of Hearts so don't forget to join in with the boos when she appears on stage.
