Voted Australia's Best Indian Restaurant, 2016, Urban Tadka has a resort feel with heaps of parking off Mona Vale Road. The management places very high importance on the customers enjoying their experience and have, put a great deal of effort in designing the restaurant, bar area and function centre.

The entry way is down a path flanked by large statues with a separate entry provided for their parties in the function space. The vibe indoors is very reminiscent of upmarket restaurants in India. The bar area is off to the right where we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. The bathrooms just behind were clean and well maintained.

We were seated at a table of 10 right in the centre of the restaurant, where we could look into the kitchen. The waiter was attentive and understanding of our party's meat free, gluten free and nut free requirements and made appropriate suggestions.

We ordered the Harra Bharra Chaman and a mixed vegetarian platter for starters. The meat eaters ordered a mixed platter which had good reviews. There is an extensive drinks menu comprising of mock tails and cocktails.

The serving sizes are ample and we ordered a mushroom stir fry, potato eggplant curry and Daal with a fluffy Naan basket, and a flavoursome Vegetable Biryani.

The Vegetable Biryani is served on a large cutting board and was plenty for all of us to share.

The little ones in our group ordered dairy based Kulfi for dessert even though the rest of us were too full!

The service was attentive all through. Urban Tadka offers a great atmosphere whether, for a few people and, larger parties.
