Art lovers will be treated to a special exhibition in Adelaide's CBD through June, with the 'Relatively Speaking' exhibition featuring the artwork of South Australian artists Rachel Porter and Lydia Webb-Quayle.

The exhibition will feature Rachel and Lydia's paintings, drawings, silk works and sculptures, telling stories of 'humanity, the everyday mundane, the hard working, the famous and not so famous, spirituality and the pain we all go through at times.'

Based in the Barossa Valley, Rachel has worked as an artist throughout her life and many of her artworks can be found through the state, but particularly in the Barossa. "The last twelve, in particular has seen me commissioned to do a lot of public artwork and murals in community spaces, as well as some private commissions in people's homes and businesses. I've also been doing some workshops around the community too, so it's been a busy time which has been fantastic."

"The exhibition will have both my works and my sister's works, who is a phenomenal artist but one who doesn't put her work out there as much as she should. I'm sure that everyone coming along will agree that her work definitely deserves to be seen by a wider audience. We held a joint exhibition at Kapunda earlier this year which was fantastic, so it's wonderful to have Urban Cow supporting us this time in the city centre."

"For this exhibition, I wanted to present works that reflected my intuitive side and my personal growth emotionally and spiritually after a huge loss in my life. I also want my sister's incredible portraits on show for everyone to appreciate. My sister too has dealt with her own pain, but despite this pours everything she is into her work".

The end result is a stunning collection of detailed portraits, Rachel's works generally being watercolours, with Lydia's more often pencil on card. The exhibition will open on the evening of Wednesday the 5th of June from 5.30 (concluding at 7.30) at the Urban Cow Studio (at 10 Vaughan Place in the Adelaide's east end, between the Exeter Hotel and Ayers House). Both Rachel and Lydia will be present at the launch and eager to meet attendees. Light snacks will be provided and drinks will be available for purchase.
