Located in District Docklands, this 550-capacity brew-pub is the first to launch the new District Docklands food and entertainment precinct which officially open this November.
You will be able to see the on-site 25-hectolitre production facility as all that separates you from so much beer are large viewing windows. Great to be drinking so close to the source.
Try the entire Urban core range including Urban Alley Brewey's signature Urban Ale (4.5%). The core range also includes Urban Lager (4.7%), Urban Dark (5.4%) and Urban APA (5.5%).
Urban Alley's Urban Ale has been in the market for over two years (formally Once Bitter) and can be found in many of Melbourne's most iconic venues including Bartronica, The Garden State Hotel, Naked for Satan, Lucky Coq and The European Bier Café.
Alongside these core beers, Urban Alley will also have monthly brewers and seasonal releases. During the opening month of September, the selection of beers will include Alley IPA, Raspberry American Wrye and The Polish Samurai, a modern take on the Polish Grodziskie using Japanese hops.
Beer lovers can fill their boots with Urban Alley Brewery's flights, which includes 4 x 4 oz. tasters for $20.
As well as traditional 'pub-grub' such as burgers, schnitzel steak and pizza,Urban Alley Brewery caters for dietary needs as there are vegan, gluten and dairy-free food choices.
It might be pub grub but there are more than a few cultured finishing touches. Dishes available include curry, seafood linguine, Urban Ale beer battered fries, and Kosher offering including crispy Cajun chips, nuggets, spicy buffalo wings and tempura cauliflower.
While I'll provide a review of the venue and the food as soon as I visit, beer lovers should not miss out on this exciting opportunity to be part of this momentous opening weekend.
