is a non for profit organisation dedicated to care for injured and orphaned wildlife.

It is free to visit the wildlife sanctuary, however, they appreciate donations of money, washing powder, old towels, powdered milk and other items which help them to run the Sanctuary.

The sanctuary is secluded and set on 150 acres in the middle of a nature reserve at Perillup in the South West. It is located out of Mt Barker, head west on the Muir Highway for 42km, turn right into
Poorarecup-Perillup Road. From here you follow the Uralla signs for another 20km before you reach your destination.

There are volunteers who care for the animals in exchange for food and board. They usually work from 6:30am to 10:30pm dedicating their time feeding and giving the animals the attention they need.

You need to contact the Wildlife Sanctuary prior to arrival and it is best to visit at feeding time so you can assist in giving the joeys a bottle.

There were just under 50 kangaroos when we visited and they have hand sew pouches where they snuggle up and sleep. The joeys were easy to feed and took to the bottle straight away.

There are many different varieties of kangaroos such as Red Kangaroos, Western Grey Kangaroos and Euros. Once they are well enough and no longer need to be cared for they are released back into the bush.

Predominately there are kangaroos on the property, however, often other native animals are taken to the centre to assist with their rehabilitation. Plus they have farm animals located on the property.

It is a wonderful place to visit to get a hands on experience caring for native animals.
