This beautiful building celebrated 80 years of serving the Upper Sturt community this year. Upper Sturt Soldiers' Memorial Hall was built as a Mother's memorial to their lost sons following the end of the first world war.
The Upper Sturt Community Association maintains the hall, and are raising funds with their annual Strawberry Fair and Market on the 7th of November.
If you are looking for a bite to eat, there will be fresh local strawberries and cream or ice cream, pancakes and a sausage sizzle. Delicious home-made cakes, biscuits and slices make a nice treat or a gift for a friend. Upper Sturt is renowned for its catering and there will be baking that will keep until needed for Christmas entertaining.
A huge monster trash and treasure, homemade local produce, new books from Wakefield Press at discounted prices, plants, jams, marmalade, chutneys, miniature plants, playdough, secondhand books and lots more will keep you happily browsing.
Enjoy a visit to the Sturt Upper Reaches Landcare site. They meet in the Hall and manage a section of land owned by the Hall. Visitors to the Strawberry Fair and Market are invited to follow the downward path and enjoy the quiet bush revegetation area.
The local CFS is having an open day and people can call in to get information and advice and ask questions. Parking is available at and near the hall, near the church and the CFS shed.
Other Events in the Hall in November
• Sturt Upper Reaches Landcare Group's AGM 7.30pm 10th November. A brief meeting will be followed by a talk on

• Remembrance Day from 10.00am - 12.00pm on the 11th November for people to come for a quiet place of reflection. See the historic Honour Roll, which has been refurbished under a federal grant and had additional names added.
