On Sunday 10th and Monday 11th March, the Upper Brookfield Art Group (UBAG) is hosting a group show to help raise vital funds for Vitae Ltd.
This show is co-sponsored by Toowong Rotary, who support Vitae financially and will have hundreds of original artworks for sale.
The event will take place at Richard Randall Studio in the Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens and showcase a diverse range of artworks by the talented artists of UBAG. The members' ages range from early 60s to early 90s and many are regular exhibitors at art shows and some have won prizes.
The current Tutor-in-Residence is Kevin Smith, a famous Brisbane watercolourist who runs the very popular beginners' courses for the Queensland Water Colour Society.
The display will include watercolours, pastels, acrylics, charcoals and India inks in mats ready for framing or already framed. Everything will be available for sale. There will also be decorated canvas carry bags, greeting cards and bookmarks available for purchase.
Why not add to your growing collection or purchase something special for a loved one. To see the paintings on offer, visit ubag.com.au
You will have an opportunity to speak to the friendly artists and also see some artist demonstrations.
All raised funds will go to Vitae Ltd, a registered charity which focusses solely on 11-13 year old boys with absentee fathers, who have disciplinary problems at high school. After attending a challenging camp, the boys are paired with a mature adult mentor who provides a stable male presence in their lives.
So far over 340 boys have attended the camp and over 50 have benefitted from a mentor. Steve Biddulph, author Raising Boys, supports the program and says that good mentoring is essential for boys.
Come along and support this great cause and the generous artists of UBAG. Viewings will be from 9am to 5pm on both days and entry is FREE.
Richard Randall Art Studio is located on Bamboo Grove at Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens. See here for venue details and accessibility.
