A sign of history
Who remembers the excitement in Brisbane when EXPO 88 was held in South Bank? It was a wonderful time, with so much to do and see in the then refurbished South Bank area.
Those of us who went, enjoyed the continuous entertainment and the many pavilions of the countries who came to Queensland to join in the festivities and promote their own country and culture. It really was an exciting time.
Well, we can relive some of those wonderful times and reminisce at the Caboolture Historical Village, as they celebrate the unveiling of the sign that graced the entrance to the Australian Pavilion.
For those who attended Expo 88 – the celebrations are bound to bring back memories. The Hotel is being transformed into a German Beer Garden and the Colt Seavers Band will entertain with music from that era. There'll also be multicultural food, activities for children and more.
Visit the Citadel Gallery to see costumes, uniforms and lots of memorabilia from that particular time in Queensland's history.
Who remembers the Chicken Dance? I guess you will have an opportunity to do this special dance – and all the activities are on Sunday 29th October.
You can watch the unveiling of the refurbished signs at the front of the Village for free, but to enter and join in the festivities, you'll need tickets which are discounted for the event. They can be purchased from the village now or on the day.
