Why would anyone want to hang around a university to relax or for fun? Well the University of Queensland's surroundings are not just a set of buildings and are defiantly worth a visit!

There are plenty of shaded areas around the lake for you to set up a picnic with your family and friends. During Spring you can take in the wildlife and green surroundings with the weather being very comfortable for being outdoors. Not too hot or too cold!



I do recommend only visiting on the weekends as you will otherwise be bombarded by the students who study there.

There are also no cafes or anything open on the weekends but I found it a great opportunity to organise to bring a home packed morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea.



I would even recommend UQ at St Lucia for families as there is plenty of wildlife (ducks, birds, turtles etc.) to keep the kids amused for a couple of hours. They will admire the wildlife that surrounds the lake there.

I am a person who agrees that kids should get out from in front of the TV once in a while and take in some fresh air. This is a great opportunity to get them out without the normal complaint of "I am bored".



Even if you are an individual who just wants to get out of the house to think or to enjoy a good book it is a great location to relax.

The best part of spending time at St Lucia is it does not cost a dime to visit this beautiful location. It is very easy to access St Lucia even if you have to catch public transport with buses, trains and ferries available for use. If you want to get out of the house on a nice day I would recommend visiting UQ at St Lucia.
