United Interiors is just what the doctor ordered for a cold and wet winter's night of the launch. A sight for sore eyes and a mecca of furnishings, the brand new showroom is filled with amazingly affordable decor, artworks, rugs and more. If you've been an avid follower of shows like The Block, this showroom will propel you to bring your inner interior decorator out. Put together the quality decor on offer and you too can have your very own designer inspired home. The whole showroom is set up to fuel your imagination.
The highlight of my night was definitely meeting and spending time chatting to designer James Treble whom I adore watching on Channel 10's The Living Room. Jet lagged though he may have been after a few weeks in Italy (hard work, but someone's gotta do it), he was full of passion about his collection at UI. We walked and talked through his beautiful thick, felted and textured pure wool carpets that were luscious to feel and touch, and heaven to walk on. Though I think I'd be more inclined to just luxuriate and lie on them. There's nothing like pure wool when the winter's cold is snapping at your feet.
James' RugSpace at UI focusses on the natural, organic and sustainable and are filled with texture and right on trend. With over 20 years of interior design experience, James' romance with decor started as young as eight, when he would collect furnishings for the love of it. Like he said, way back then, one could just easily collect through 'curbside shopping'. Where else could a young lad with a designer's fire burning in him at such an early age get goods with no money.
A little tip straight from the mouth of James Treble, 'denim never goes out of fashion'; as he showed us (my friend and I) some large woven very affordable denim rugs made out of denim jeans. I could literally see the light bulbs going off in my 'handy-woman, should be on The Block renovation show' girlfriend's head, who was enamoured with the heads-up, straight from the horse's mouth.
Australia's newest online interior decorating marketplace's launch went off with a bang, again wonderfull organised by Sara from Inka Marketing. A room filled with designers, interior decorators and other 'block heads' (from The Block), complimented by great little tasty bites from Caroline Khoo of Nectar & Stone who also had a dessert cart stationed at UI's Pop-Up showroom and warehouse sale, the next day following the launch.

It was great having the opportunity to check out the goods in person of this primarily online homewares and decor specialist store founded by its Managing Director Tony Romano. Be sure to browse their collection on their website and follow their updates on their Facebook page. Both professional and budding interior designers should be able to find everything they need to decorate any living spaces, both inside and out.
With UI's art that's genuine, hand-painted pieces in oils, acrylics and mixed-media; the dynamic design duo Alisa & Lysandra's collection of artwork and rugs that reflects their styling, current interior trends and colour forecasts; Jamie Durie's art collection that's inspired by the natural beauty of the Australian landscape; and James Treble's range of unique and handcrafted textural, rugs and home accessories, sporting Rugspace's signature look of natural and recycled fibres, you'll find plenty to inspire from brands that have been featured on The Block and Selling Houses Australia.
