Dr Nicky Fidler, the former Curator of Ferns at Botanic Gardens of South Australia, will be conducting a hands-on Masterclass on the propagation of ferns compatible with South Australia's climate on Thursday 26 October 2017 from 10am – 3pm at Mount Lofty Botanic Garden.

This course is open to everyone - no previous propagation experience or horticultural qualification is required. Participants just need to bring their own sharpened secateurs, gloves, protective clothing, sensible shoes, a hat, notebook and pen. The timeline of the comprehensive program is listed below.

09.45am – Registration

10.00am – Field collection tour and field study in Mount Lofty's internationally renowned Fern Gully

12.00pm – Lunch (Provided)

12.30pm – Vegetative propagation techniques including division, frond and rhizome cuttings

02.00pm – Afternoon Tea

02.15pm – Spore sowing including spore collection and preparation

03.00pm – end of Masterclass, participants get to take home the plants they have propagated during the class
