When August comes, almost every corner of Melbourne is touched with winter: heavy clothes are dressed against the chilling wind; heaters are set up outside cafes; and meadows are covered with withered fallen leaves, a mixture of rusty and golden colours.

While everyone is expecting the coming of spring, Annette has the magical power to lock summer in a box and make flowers bloom forever.

I could hardly believe my eyes when I knew for the first time, that these beautiful scented flowers were actually made from soaps. Annette, the designer who got her inspiration from Thailand, has managed to make them not only look real, but also smell real.

In collaboration with artisans, Annette has included more than 40 designs and colours for different occasions such as weddings, baby showers, birthdays etc. Customised services are also provided to meet specific needs of customers.

Though made from soaps such as Lux, Palmolive and Dove, they are more than just soaps, as they were so exquisitely designed, carefully carved and delicately painted. From them, we can tell the artist's efforts to restore the beauty of nature, piece by piece and knife by knife.

My boyfriend gave me a blue lotus (as you can see in the picture above) last winter, and I really loved it, because it's so beautiful and romantic. Girls all love surprise. It doesn't necessarily have to be expensive, but it has to be special.

So, if you want to send some lovely gifts without breaking your bank, go and have a look in Victoria Market. Or you can directly contact Annette through her Home Page which includes more pictures about her amazing works. Good luck!
