Ok I admit it – Im not a fan of that lemony taste. But, sour taste aside, lemons have a lot of great uses. Here are just a few:
1. Detox Lemons are one of the best natural ingredients to use in detoxifying the body. Despite their acidic nature, they become alkaline once in the body, creating a brighter, better complexion. To use, squirt the juice of ½ a lemon (if the flavour is too strong, try ¼ initially), into a cup of hot water, and drink. This is best done first thing in the morning, half an hour before breakfast. Brush your teeth beforehand, as lemons can be known to erode teeth enamel.

Suffering from a pimples? The simplest recipe for getting rid of problem skin is to dip a cotton ball in the juice of a lemon, apply directly to the pimple, and leave overnight. Wash away with water in the morning. The citric acid will help gently erode the pimple away.
3. Aromatherapy While each person's experience is different, I personally find the scent of lemons very uplifting. Using a lemon freshener in your office may help improve your concentration and energy levels. It's also been said that the scent of lemons helps calm nervousness and anxiety – definitely an office must have.

4. Health There are many ways to use lemons to treat all those little health problems. Dabbing lemon juice on gums can stop them from bleeding. Adding some lemon juice to a hot cup of tea will help soothe headaches. Got warts? Treat them by dabbing a cotton ball dipped in lemon juice to the wart every day until it dissolves.
5. Natural deodorizer Instead of throwing out all your lemon peels, use them to freshen up your home instead. A few peels inside your fridge will mask the odour of all those expired foods you forgot to throw out. Placing a few peels at the bottom of your garbage bin will kill all those unpleasant odours – but just remember to change the peels every two weeks.
So, next time life hands you lemons, make lemonade…and then some!
