The unique appearance of plants is more than for visual appeal, it also serves as a clue to the adaptions that allow it to thrive in certain environments. The Understanding the Language of Plants workshop held on 8 April 2021 at Adelaide Botanic Gardens teaches you how to "decode" these features. A second session will be held on 17 June 2021 for those who are unable to make it to the first session.

Primarily focused on the "language" of leaves and foliage, this workshop will help you to read the adaptions that a plant demonstrates and how it relates to the environment it originates from. There will also be a brief introduction to nomenclature, the scientific naming of plants. With an understanding of the appearance of plants, you can make plant choices for your garden without having to search through a mountain of information.
