The Comfort Inn, Crowders Gully Road, was once a working mine. Mined for approximately 50 years from the early 1900s, this former opal mine was transformed in the 1990s. Rooms are underground with queen-size beds and ensuite bathrooms. The Comfort Inn also has an opal and gift shop, The Opal Room, and a display of opalised fossil seashells! Very interesting, and lovely to look at. You will also be able to look at old mining tunnels and opal seams. There is also local Aboriginal art. Radeka's Dugout Motel & Backpackers Accommodation, 1 Oliver Street, was transformed in the mid-1980s from a once operating opal mine. Radeka's Dugout Motel offers a range of motel rooms both above and below ground, budget rooms and dormitories. The backpacker's dorms have alcoves with bunks, within a large dugout.
