Kick off the weekend with a boutique wine or two
Uncorked at the National Wine Centre is a great opportunity to reminisce with friends at the end of a working week, and to prepare for the weekend while enjoying some good local wines, sharing some tapas, listening to the latest in live music and potentially meeting those winemakers who put it all together.

Held every second week on a Friday evening, Uncorked is an event which allows guests to sample wines from selected smaller and more boutique wineries without having to travel long distances to South Australia's wine regions. One or two boutique wineries participate each fortnight offering tasting glasses of their products. For those a little more adventurous, wine flights are available for purchase which enable a more broader sampling, or alternatively full glasses or bottles are available for purchase for consumption at the venue or to take home to put in the cellar for much later appreciation.

Wineries represented in the first six months of 2015 include :

16th January : The Lane Vineyard, Adelaide Hill
30th January : Skillogalee, Clare Valley
13th February : Australian Sparkling Wines
27th February : Barossa vs Marlborough
13th March : Coriole, McLaren Vale
27th March : Howard Vineyard, Adelaide Hills
10th April : Browns of Padthaway, Padthaway
24th April : Torbreck, Barossa Valley
8th May : Balnaves of Coonawarra, Coonawarra
22nd May : Yalumba, Barossa Valley
5th June : Dell'uva, Barossa Valley
19th June : Hentley Farm, Barossa Valley

Crowds gathering

Supplementing the fine wines is some fine food with complimentary cheese platters and finger food made available during the course of the evening. For those wishing to order their own food (and avoid the queues at the complimentary bar !), there is a menu of light-and-easy to eat items including various types of cheeses, dips, tapas, pizzas and fries, either all for yourself or for you to share with friends. Click here to see a copy of the modestly priced latest menu.

Crowds spreading

Complementing the food and wine is some soft and appropriate music from a local Adelaide musician / group who is seeking an opportunity to make their first fortunes by playing in front of a mature and accepting crowd . Uncorked commences from 430pm every second Friday with free entry, and is either the perfect prelude to a Friday night dinner, movie, show or alternatively a long and relaxing evening with colleagues and friends.

Sun slowly sets

Meet the Maker is a more formal event run in conjunction with Uncorked. Meet the Maker provides interested participants with an opportunity to meet the winemaker of the wines presented at Uncorked in a master class from 5pm to 6pm, whereby questions can be asked and explanations given as to the structures, ingredients and disciplines associated with the making of these fine South Australian wines. There is a $25 entrance fee for the Meet the Maker event, and numbers are strictly limited and typically sell out fast. Bookings for Meet the Maker are essential on 8313 3355 or you can register online using Eventbrite.
