A cross between an American cheesecake and a French souffle
A few weeks ago as I was walking down Swanston Street, I got caught in a mob of people blocking the walkway. Curious about what all the fuss was, I turned to see a new shop had opened called 'Uncle Tetsu's.' At least 50 people were lined up to get into the shop, so I decided once the initial rush had died down, I would go back and see for myself what was so good about this Uncle Tetsu's.
This Japanese cheesecake shop has now opened its first shop in Melbourne. It has become an International phenomenon with shops all over the world. Uncle Tetsu Japanese cheesecake combines the richness of American cheesecake with the lightness of a French souffle. Tetsushi Mizokami founded the original Uncle Tetsu in Hakata, Japan. Since its debut in 1985, it has accumulated fans from all around the world.
Uncle Tetsu with his famous cheesecake
Each cheesecake comes warm from the oven, or alternatively, you can grab one that has been cooled in the fridge. Atop each one is Uncle Tetsu's stamp. The original Japanese cheesecake they sell is absolutely amazing! The taste and texture is delicious. I was not disappointed. It would almost be a sin to go into this shop and not buy the original! However, if your taste buds are after something a bit different, they also sell flavoured cheesecakes, such as chocolate, green tea & honey, as well as apple pie, madeleines, tarts and pudding. You also get a cute Uncle Tetsu bag with your purchase.
