Anyone who has heard of Alice Springs; be it a native of the beautiful town or a tourist who is making their journey through the Outback; would know about the simmering temperatures that this town invites almost every day of the year.

Consequently, it is the Australian summers as intense as these that require for ice cream parlours to be established in close vicinity to deal with those temperatures.

Uncle Edy's is a cute, little ice cream shop that has been family to Todd Mall for a little over two years now.



A family-run business, you can really feel their hard work showcased in their immaculate little shop, with the friendliest staff members one could ask for, and a range of delicious options of ice creams, hot dogs, smoothies and hot beverages.



Like the big chains in the capital cities of Australia, Uncle Edy's provides with a competitive menu at competitive prices, along with the tastiest combination of ice cream and/or gelati flavours.

You don't need to find an excuse to stroll down the Mall and enjoy a delicious, cold cup / cone of ice cream when in Alice Springs. You can choose to have just one flavour or a combination of two or more flavours that you can easily enjoy solo or by sharing with others. All these recipes are European-based, but with a touch of 100% Australian-made products.

My friend and I decided to go for a two-flavour combination as we weren't too hungry for ice cream, but were in the mood to escape from the heat, even if it was just momentarily.

I loved how Uncle Edy's range of flavours included alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. I was able to couple the Bailey's with the Supreme Chocolate and, indeed, enjoyed this combination to the fullest. The Bailey's was not super strong, but subtle enough to give me a feeling of utter happiness.



This cute little parlour has a jukebox, which you can operate to tune in to your favourite tunes. Other amusing and eye-catching features include motivational posters (per se); as pictured below; to have the ice cream snob inside you come out with a bang, samples of the ice cream flavours that Uncle Edy's offers to their customers for free, and generous-sized portions of gelato and / or ice cream served to you with love.



Make sure you stop by Uncle Edy's, because when you're living in Alice Springs, you know that you need to find a certain place, food, or drink to help you cool off in the sweltering heat. Be it a cone of ice cream, a gelato in a cup, or a smoothie of your choice of flavour, Uncle Edy's has you covered.
