I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.

Ultra Swing Lounge is a musical journey back to the era of lounge singers. The beautiful 'Spanish baroque' interior of the Civic Theatre was the perfect venue for an evening of swing. The show featured 30 numbers mostly from the big band era of the 1930s to 1960s.

Daniel Stoddart, Steve Hudson and Rob McDougall emulate singers such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Michael Buble whilst putting their own personalities into the show, Their harmonies and playful repartee worked well and there were standout individual performances. First performed at the Civic Theatre in 2004, Ultra Swing Lounge returns to Newcastle after a four-year break.

The 24 piece band were outstanding and the dancers added a touch of glitz and glamour. I loved watching the artistry and athleticism of Dancing With The Stars Masha and Aric. Christian Fletcher tapping to Mr Bojangles was poignantly beautiful.

The two hours of Ultra Swing Lounge was a evening of great entertainment and covered all the bases, music, humour, emotion and glamour, even the audience dressed to impress.
