As the humidity levels rise, it's time to pull out your favourite singlet and spend all your cash on the best festivals in Sydney this season!

But which one is the best? Which has good value? Find out all you need to know on the five hottest festivals to hit the Harbour City this Summer!

Australia's premium dance music festival returns in 2011 after setting a trend last year. With only a couple of weeks left until the actual festival arrives, third release tickets are your only option. But in saying that, $145 for third release is pretty special when you consider the line up. Dutch sensation Armin Van Buuren is coming to Aussie shores along with LMFAO and Benny Benassi who've taken the charts by storm this year. If you like the odd shuffle or six, find the cash and get to Stereosonic, you won't regret it.

Homebake

When? Saturday, December 3rd, 2011
Where? The Domain, Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney
Cost? $102 plus bf (Ticketek)
Line Up: Grinderman, Cut Copy, Pnau, Gotye, Ladyhawke, Gurrumul, Icehouse, Drapht, Daniel Merriweather, The Triffids, Eskimo Joe, Architecture in Helsinki, The Church, The Vines, Illy, The Jezabels, Kimbra, CW Stoneking, Kids of 88 (NZ), Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Papa vs Pretty, Hungry Kids of Hungary, Passenger, Killaqueenz, Avalanche City (NZ), Vents, Noah Taylor, The Sloppy Boys, 360, Ratcat, Bleeding Knees Club, Damndogs, Owl Eyes, Gold Fields, Big Scary, Split Seconds, Rufus.

After taking a break last year, the country's best showcase of local talent is back for 2011 and features yet another amazing line up. Gotye and Grinderman headline the show, with rising acts like 360, Kimbra and The Jezabels all sure to make a scene. There's also an epic art and comedy side to this year's festival that you don't want to miss. For the current price of $102, you're getting an absolute steal!

Big Day Out

When? Thursday, January 26th, 2012
Where? Sydney Showground
Cost? $175.80 plus bf (Ticketmaster)
Line Up: Kanye West, Soundgarden, Kasabian, My Chemical Romance, The Living End, Röyksopp, Hilltop Hoods, Boy and Bear, Parkway Drive, Mariachi El Bronx, Architecture in Helsinki, Battles, The Jezabels, Odd Future, Frenzal Rhomb, Girl Talk, The Getaway Plan, Cage The Elephant, Foster The People, Best Coast .

Undoubtedly the festival with the biggest reputation in Australia, but is it worth the always high price? This year you'll be paying just under $180 to get in and see the likes of Kanye, Kasabian and My Chemical Romance. Foster the Peolple also feature, and at the moment they're one of the most exciting new bands in the world, a massive coup for the festival. However, when you have guys like Soundgarden as 'headliners', questions will always be asked.

Soundwave

Date? Sunday, February 26th, 2012
Where? Sydney Showground
Cost? $164.25 plus bf (Soundwave)
Line Up: System Of A Down, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson, A Day To Remember, Machine Head, Lamb Of God, Trivium, Alter Bridge , Lostprophets, Angels & Airwaves, Cobra Starship, The Used, You Me At Six, Devin Townsend Project, Unwritten Law, Coal Chamber, Dashboard Confessional, Thursday, Forever The Sickest Kids, Raised Fist, Dillinger Escape Plan, Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society, Mastodon, Underoath, Saves The Day (playing Weezer's Pinkerton ), Circa Survive, Steel Panther, Jack's Mannequin, Meshuggah, The Sisters Of Mercy, Enter Shikari, Four Year Strong, Black Veil Brides, Madina Lake, Zebrahead, Hatebreed, Biohazard, Times Of Grace, Cky, Street Dogs, Dragonforce, Gojira, Kvelertak, Letlive, Hellyeah, Cro-Mags, The Cab, Relient K, Versa Emerge, Heroes For Hire, Kill Hannah, The Dangerous Summer, Chimaira, Framing Hanley, Watain, Royal Republic, I Am The Avalanche, Turisas, River City Extension.

Yes, that's over half a century of artists! After the disaster that was Soundwave Revolution, promoters promised the main festival would come back even stronger, and my word has it. With a massive line up of hardcore artists, including the awesome System Of A Down and always erratic Marilyn Manson, this could well be the best year. The inclusion of artists like Cobra Starship has been questioned, but on a whole, a very impressive line up.

Future Music Festival

Date? Saturday, March 10th, 2012
Where? Royal Randwick Racecourse
Cost? $170.85 bf (Ticketek)
Line Up: Swedish House Mafia, Fatboy Slim, Paul van Dyk, Tinnie Tempah, The Wombats, Chase and Status, Skrillex, Jessie J, The Rapture, Sven Vath, Aphex Twin, Die Antwood, The Naked and Famous, Gareth Emery, Jamie Jones, LCD Soundsystem/DFA, Hercules & Love Affair, Azari and III, Frank Ocean, Alex Metric, Holy Ghost!, Juan Maclean, Benoit & Sergio, Horse Meat Disco, The Stafford Brothers, Gnomerella.

Future went crazy earlier this year, but the question was always going to be how could they possibly match it, let alone make it better? Somehow, they've done it again. Electro giants Swedish House Mafia and Fatboy Slim headline with support from the equally energetic Tinnie Tempah, Jessie J and swagger-boy Frank Ocean. In saying that, half the people will come just to see Skrillex's crazy set! It probably doesn't beat this year but it's certainly on par.

So which one should you go to?

For me, Future provides the best value, with Stereo also looking epic even with time running out. But remember, there will be more line up announcements for some of these festivals over the coming weeks, so keep an eye out and enjoy what summer is all about!
