Having a girl's night in. A night in with the boyfriend and you plan on torturing him. A recent break-up, problems with the male species or just sick of men.
If you are having a chick flick movie night, you will need to have plenty of tissues, chocolate, ice cream, and lollies - whatever hits your sweet spot. A pampering session could also be involved in the movie night. This includes manicures, pedicures, massages, facials and if there are more than two, hair and make-up for fun.
The following will be a list of chick flicks you could watch on a chick flick movie night. If you plan on watching three movies in a night, a five-hour time period would be suggested. Keep in mind this is a shortened list and there are many movies you could watch.
1) The Notebook This movie is a must watch for all women. Indeed, this movie is convincing that true love does exist. For all the broken-hearted ladies, this movie reassures that true love does exist and certainly if it is meant to be, nothing will stand in the way. If this does not convince you to watch this then the next two words will- Ryan Gosling. Enough Said.
2) P.S I Love You
This is the story of a young widow who is left 10 messages by her late husband. If anything, this movie will show the extent of love. This is appropriate for the women out there who are sick of all men - as it surely proves that there are some good men out there.
3) Dirty Dancing
A classic movie that demonstrates the feeling of true love giving all women hope. The dancing and music is thoroughly entertaining and not to mention the joy received when able to say "I carried a watermelon" and "Nobody puts Baby in a corner".
4) Pretty Woman
Another story of love showing that love exists everywhere and does not adhere to social class.
5) Pride and Prejudice
The version I am referring to of this Jane Austen classic stars Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfayden. Another movie that shows that love exists regardless of who you are.
6) Bridget Jones Diary
If you are seriously considering never looking at another man again then this is your movie. Renee Zellweger stars as Bridget Jones who represents a part of all women. Colin Firth is another reason to watch this movie. (Please excuse me while I enter my imaginary world).
7) 27 Dresses
A hilarious movie that reminds women that your ideal man may be right in front of you, you just can't see it! Oh, and the guy that does not appreciate you, please give him the flick. Pronto! It is also an opportunity to plan your wedding with James Marsden.
8) Never Been Kissed
Drew Barrymore plays a journalist who enlists in her old high school as research for a story. The story becomes interesting when she starts to fall in love with the English teacher who is played by Michael Vartan.
9) 50 First Dates
Another movie starring Drew Barrymore who plays Lucy, a woman who has short-term memory loss. Adam Sandler plays Henry Roth, a man who is afraid of commitment until he meets Lucy. One problem, she cannot remember him the next day.
10) Sixteen Candles
This is a John Hughes classic starring Molly Ringwald, Michael Schoeffling, and Anthony Michael Hall. The movie also stars young siblings John and Joan Cusack. Molly Ringwald plays Samantha Baker, who on the eve of her sisters wedding she turns 16, but with her sisters wedding the next day the whole family forgets it is her birthday. If this is not enough, she has an ongoing infatuation with Jake Ryan who is a guy at her school.
11) Confessions of a Shopaholic
Isla Fisher stars as Rebecca Bloomwood who recently lands a job as a financial journalist to support her shopping addiction as she is in serious debt. Hugh Dancy stars as her boss Luke Brandon who quickly becomes the love interest. ***Sigh***
12) Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants
If you are having a girl's night in, then this is the perfect movie. Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn play four best friends who promise to stay connected as their lives move in different directions. They are all connected by a pair of jeans that seems to bring all of them luck.
13) Mona Lisa Smile
Julia Roberts plays an arts professor in the 50's who teaches a group of girls and challenges them to think about traditional societal roles. She tries to inspire young women to choose what they want out of life using art. The impact she has on the lives of the young girls she teaches is remarkable.
A maid of honour and a bridesmaid competing for the title of best friend over their friend Lillian as her wedding day approaches shows to be disastrous, but for those watching it is absolutely hysterical. This movie will have you laughing out of your seat as it is not about a bridezilla but about the friends in competition who become the bridezillas as this movie focuses on the role of the bridesmaid.
