Can you believe it? It only seems like yesterday when the glitz and glamour of the Adelaide Cabaret Fringe Festival kicked off with its festivities and yet, we are nearing the halfway point of the Festival this weekend.
While the frivolity of this festival primarily prevails along the East End, Mixed Spice Creative Studios (on Coromandel Place) will also be joining in on the fun and celebrations of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival with a fabulous free live music and art event on International Make Music Day. Celebrating this community event on Winter Solstice Day (June 21, 2019), visitors can expect to enjoy free and accessible music performances at the independent arts studio, which will also be supplying food and drinks, profits from the sales of which will go towards supporting the studio.
Additionally, Mixed Spice Creative Studios will also be launching their June exhibition of artworks that have been created by some of our best local artists, all of which channel (through a variety of mediums) the theme of "making music".
"We've connected with artists from all mediums, and the exhibition will also grow and change with interactive elements on the night." Kat Coppock (founder & operator - Mixed Spice Creative Studios)
While it may be the shortest day in the year, Make Music Day will add to the broadest open access, free music event that takes place all over the world (more than 750 cities in 120 countries) - with seriously good music in the midst of even better company. So don't let the frosty temperatures keep you from enjoying a hearty space and come along to enjoy a free live music event that will bring a feast full of soup, bar, and chai, as you sing along to the tunes by local musician favourites Jessica Rae, Cosmic Shepherd, The Ukulele Dream Girl, and you.
