The University Dramatic Society presents their semester two drama, Dimity Smyth is Dead. This is all about a decrepit house, its deceitful guests and the detective with a death wish.

Dimity Smyth is dead. Or she will be.

You know Dimity Smyth - you've read the stories of the famous detective who always solved the mystery. She did this with "never a cell vacant, never a quip unspoken". Now the heroes and villains of these legends have been called together by some worrisome news. Each one of them has their own vendetta against the hero.

Firstly, there is the cult leader obsessed with population control; the police officer, Smyth, who refused to help; the singer with blood on her hands; and the arch-nemesis who has been stewing in a jail cell for the past seventeen years.

Each comes to the house with a different, destructive secret that they hold close to their hearts. They then find "supper is said secrets served on a silver dish".

Then, as these flippant characters find themselves trapped under the one roof, each is desperately hoping to escape with their dignity and their revenge. There is only one way in which they can gain their freedom, and that is: kill Dimity Smyth!

The question is, and what of Dimity Smyth herself? Well, she's the one who invited them, of course! Featuring a cast of young performers from around Perth, Dimity Smyth is Dead is a murder mystery "turned on its head and then decapitated."

It's not a question of "whodunnit", but rather, who will do it?
