Tygum Lagoon, located south of Brisbane, offers an idyllic lagoon with well-maintained surrounding parklands. An 1.3 kilometre trail circumnavigates the body of water, allowing visitors of all abilities to appreciate a thriving community of resident waterbirds. The track is relatively flat, comprised of concrete, small sections of boardwalk and a steel bridge. It is highly accessible for visitors requiring the use of prams, wheelchairs or bicycles.
A sheltered pontoon and wooden deck are ideal locations for rest and views of the large lagoon. Visitors can spot an abundance of birdlife, including the locally beloved swans, geese and ducks. Plus, if you head down on the weekend or Wednesday mornings, you can see the local Model Boat Club in action.
The park itself also features three playground areas, skating facilities, multiple picnic areas with barbecues and multi-access toilets.
Tygym Lagoon can become extremely busy on the weekends. If you are intending to host a party or larger gathering, early arrival is strongly recommended.
