Take a break from city life at Two Rocks Beach
Two Rocks Beach is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Perth. Just 60kms from the centre of the city, this white, sandy beach is never crowded and always beautiful. Two Rocks is literally the end of the road, being the last suburb before the end of the metro area. On a calm, sunny day the waters are crystal clear, but perhaps the best quality of Two Rocks Beach is that it is dog-friendly, so make sure you bring your furry friend along for an exciting day out.
Named Two Rocks because of the two giant limestone rocks that sit on the beach, the council has recently upgraded this quiet end of the city by adding a children's playground and facilities. There is also a long concrete ramp leading to the beach, making it one of the most accessible beaches in Perth. Nearby is the tiny shopping centre containing a grocery store, a few (dog-friendly) cafes and a post office, so you can easily make a day of it. The town itself was originally a crayfisherman town, and has a fantastic little marina, often filled with sealife. The area is great for kitesurfing, swimming, kayaking, diving and fishing. The rocks are designated bird sancturaries and are not to be climbed on.
Parking is readily accessible, right next to the entrace to the beach. To get here from Perth, head north on the Mitchell Freeway all the way to the end, then continue on to Mindarie Avenue until it finishes. This route will take you through Yanchep and on to Two Rocks Road. As you enter the town, the entrance to the beach car park will be signed on your left. Remember, if you are bringing your dog, that the dog exercise area is located to the right-hand side of the ramp.
