If you love the outdoors, a bit of adventure and fun, come along to the 2 Day Come and Try Sailing Course at the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron (RSAYS) on 15-16 September, where you'll receive a great introduction to sailing, get to know the ropes, and lots more!
The weekend is an opportunity for people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities to find out how fun, safe, accessible and affordable sailing is.
Participants are divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced groups and matched with experienced skippers and mentors on a keelboat. In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, you will get to know your way around a boat, try out different crew positions, gain new skills and confidence or develop the ones that you have. And following each day's sail, there is the opportunity to catch up with other participants for some apres-sail with complimentary drinks and nibbles, and a chance to consolidate some of your learning.
The 2 Day Come and Try Sailing Course has been run successively for eleven years and has introduced hundreds of people to the thrill of boating under sail, many of whom have gone on to be further involved in the RSAYS or other clubs.
The RSAYS, established in 1869, is based on the Port River in Outer Harbour. It has a large member base consisting of many experienced sailors, and its foundation encourages and supports junior and women's sailing. It has a busy schedule of racing, cruising, fishing and social activities.
